How to Apply. Our mantra is "less is better".
We strongly encourage you to use our product a drop at a time until you're fully
familiar with the way it works on your skin. In order to understand the significance
of "less is better" place a small drop of HobaCare Jojoba on the back
of your hand. Massage it in. Notice that it spreads easily and absorbs readily.
You want the product to absorb because that's how it works best—by softening
and conditioning the skin.
Condition Skin . HobaCare Jojoba's conditioning effects
are well known and widely recognized. It is found in numerous up-scale personal
care products as an ingredient. The product is gentle enough for newborn babies.
It soothes, and it restores elasticity to any dry skin area while conditioning and
softening the skin. For daily conditioning, apply HobaCare all over the body immediately
after bathing. Apply it either while the skin is still wet, permitting the skin
to air dry after application, or apply it after gently blotting the skin dry, while
the skin is still moist. Apply HobaCare from time to time during the day, especially
on elbows, knees, calves, feet or other areas prone to dryness. HobaCare Jojoba
soothes and conditions sun- or wind-burned skin.
HobaCare Jojoba has an SPF of only 2 to 4. We do not recommend it for use as a sun
screen alternative. Those with darkened or dark skin may wish, however, to use it
before applying sunscreen to maintain the skin while in the sun. We recommend applying
HobaCare after sun exposure to soothe and maintain the skin. Add a few drops of
lavender, carnation, or lemon essential oils and the mixture will fend off pesky
insects.
If you love your moisturizing cream and wish to moisturize with more than just water,
then apply your moisturizing cream first, and follow with HobaCare Jojoba.
If you wish to try some combination of HobaCare Jojoba and essential oils on your
skin to improve conditioning, please consult our section on Aromatherapy.
Note: Toxicological test data from human and animal studies using jojoba, as well
as cosmetic formulations containing jojoba, support the conclusion that jojoba is
considered safe (Journal of the American College of Toxicology, Volume 11, Number
1, 1992). In the USA, after more than 30 years of public use of cosmetics containing
jojoba, there is no evidence of incompatibility with the skin.
Psoriasis Relief . HobaCare Jojoba does not cure psoriasis.
It does provide soothing relief. Moisten the skin and massage HobaCare in.
Condition Scalp and Hair. HobaCare conditions hair and
scalp, prevents dryness, and restores manageability. HobaCare relieves babies' cradle
cap and is far more congenial to the hair and scalp than olive or other vegetable
oils or mineral oils.
Jojoba is often found in shampoos and conditioners as an ingredient. Manufacturers
include jojoba in their formulas because it is safe, stable, mixes well with other
ingredients gives their products a silky feeling and is known to be good for the
skin. However, such formulations do not include sufficient amounts of jojoba to
make a difference to the consumer. Symbolic uses of jojoba as an ingredient belie
the logic of using it. Consumers want jojoba to penetrate the hair follicle and
scalp. Penetration won't effectively occur if the consumer is washing hair with
it. Penetration is best achieved by applying jojoba directly to the scalp and hair
prior to shampooing.
Each of us has unique hair and scalp conditions. Formulated products with small
amounts of jojoba do not address our individual needs. Use of HobaCare Jojoba eliminates
the generalizations of formulated products. You use as much as you need for as long
as you need it. You are the formula.
We suggest the following routines using HobaCare Jojoba for scalp and hair:
- Massage HobaCare into damp scalp and hair, letting it penetrate
for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight. Or, massage it into damp hair prior
to your workout. Shampoo. The feel of your hair will tell you whether you wish to
lather up once or twice.
- Warm HobaCare to body temperature. Massage it into damp hair and
scalp, towel-wrap hair and scalp, maintaining warmth and permitting HobaCare Jojoba
to penetrate prior to shampooing.
- If you have very thick hair, apply HobaCare after shampooing and
toweling dry, Leave it in.
- During the day, thoroughly rub a drop of two of HobaCare into
your hands and then pass your hands through your hair and scalp.
Remember: use reasonable amounts of the product. If you use too much, simply shampoo
again. You will quickly discover the combination of amount and saturation time best
for you.

hair, please refer to the recipes in the Aromatherapy

Chapped and Cracking Hands. Doctors, nurses, musicians,
carpenters, gardeners-those working with their hands find HobaCare an excellent
conditioner, which restores suppleness and prevents dryness.
Give your hands a HobaCare bath at night, just before sleeping. Place a generous
amount of HobaCare in a palm and then "wash" your hands with the product,
massaging it into the backs of the hands, between the fingers, and into the cuticles.
Continue massaging until all of the HobaCare has been absorbed. Put on a pair of
cotton gloves and leave them on all night. Repeat the treatment from time to time
during the day. Add natural Vitamin E or a healing essential oil, such as lavender,
to HobaCare prior to application.
Massage and HobaCare Jojoba. Experienced massage therapists
prefer HobaCare Jojoba. Please refer to the section for professional
massage therapists to obtain information about HobaCare and Massage.
Aromatherapy and HobaCare. HobaCare Jojoba is a "fixative".
While it has a mild, nutty scent of its own, it is totally vulnerable to the scent
of its immediate environment. After HobaCare has been in your skin for a minute
or two, you will not perceive HobaCare's scent, only your own. This characteristic
makes HobaCare an ideal carrier or base for essential oils and perfumes. Adding
essential oils to HobaCare enriches one's experience with the product, whether it
is used to condition skin, scalp and hair, or for massage or any of the other applications
described on this website.
We recommend that you mix your own essential oils with a base or carrier of your
choice--as opposed to purchasing pre-mixed products. By mixing your own essential
oils with HobaCare Jojoba, you will know exactly what you have added to your base
and in what strength.
To obtain reliable sources of essential oils, please consult the National Association
of Holistic Aromatherapy: www.NAHA.org.

Cuticles. Manicurists routinely use HobaCare Jojoba to
condition and soften cuticles and to polish finger nails.
One may "soak" one's finger tips in HobaCare Jojoba, a highly indulgent
practice, or one may apply HobaCare to the cuticles using a cotton swab. After application,
massage the product into the cuticles. For nails, after applying HobaCare buff the
nails . (Of course, you can do the same with toenails!)

treatment.
Shaving Face and Legs
It's laughable to watch major multi-national companies competing head-to-head on
the basis of which one can squeeze more blades onto a razor head. In addition to
the "Mach III", we now have the "Quatro"! And shaving creams
and lotions continue to be rife with ingredients which actually cause dryness and
irritate the skin.
It's time to declare a return to sanity. Shaving should be simple and straight forward.
Our solution is to use your favorite herbal soap, first. Wash your face and leave
the herbal soap on the skin. (For some herbal soap ideas, please go to our
Favorite Links.) Follow by rubbing HobaCare into the skin. Alternatively,
wet the face, massage HobaCare into the skin, and follow with the herbal soap. Then
shave. How much HobaCare should you use? Put about the size of a quarter in the
palm of your cupped hand. That should be more than enough to cover the facial area
you wish to shave.
Before rinsing your razor with hot water after each stroke, run the razor head across
a cotton wash cloth to remove most of the hair and soap lather. Then rinse with
hot water and take the next stroke. When you've finished shaving, run the razor
head across the cotton wash cloth one last time and then rinse it under hot water.
The razor will last longer if it's cleaned well. Rinse your face with warm water
to remove all excess soap. You're face will feel smooth and soft after the shave
and rinse because the HobaCare Jojoba will still be in your skin.
Alternatively, use HobaCare Jojoba as a pre-shave conditioner under soap or lather.
If you use an electric razor, use HobaCare as an after-shave conditioner.
Women, if you shave your legs, follow either of the procedures noted above.
HobaCare conditions and softens, permitting a closer shave. It does not irritate
sensitive skin.
To add zest and invigoration to the shaving experience, add 5 drops of rosemary
to 125ml of HobaCare Jojoba for shaving face or legs.
HobaCare is available in small bottles and in bulk. We accept MasterCard and Visa.
