Arnica Infused Jojoba

For all the same reasons that jojoba makes a great carrier for essential oils, it also makes a great carrier to infuse with botanicals (see our post dedicated to this topic here). Infusing jojoba with botanicals can take it up a notch, adding healing elements to an already amazing product. Jojoba's shelf stability and long life makes it one of the best mediums for such infusions. This arnica infused jojoba can be used as is, for massaging sore muscles, or it can be used as an ingredients in salves, balms, and other products. You can use this basic method for a wide variety of infusions. We will be coming up with a few over the coming months, check back to see our recipes.

No doubt, you've heard of the health benefits of arnica for muscle pain, bruises, soreness, swelling, arthritis, and other types of pain. Rub this arnica infused jojoba on areas affected by soreness or pain. Arnica should not be used on open cuts/wounds because it is toxic if it gets into the body. It's fine for external use. As with almost everything, there are some individuals that can be sensitive to one specific compound in arnica, helenalin. If you develop a rash, discontinue use, you are mostly likely one of those sensitive.

ARNICA INFUSED JOJOBA

1. Place organic dried arnica flowers in jar, quart size is perfect for about one ounce of dried flowers. You can use fresh herbs, but make sure they are allowed to dry down for a day or two. The moisture in the herbs can increase risk of mold.

2. Top off herbs with jojoba. The goal is to keep arnica submerged under jojoba, be sure to leave some headspace for expansion.

3. Cap, shake jar and place jar in sunny windowsill. Allow to infuse for four to six weeks, shaking every couple days. It is helpful to write the date the mix was made on the bottom of the jar.

4. Strain herbs out of jojoba with cheesecloth, a couple of layers might be needed to remove all particles. Transfer infused jojoba to smaller bottles to be used as needed or gifted. Write date finished on bottom of jar and try to use up within a year.

Thank you! I just wanted to say that I am just getting into making my own cosmetics and had been searching high and low for the most responsibly produced jojoba. This is very good quality at a fair price...

I just want to let you know how much I love your Jojoba. I have been using it for about 10 years now, after seeing it at a massage convention. One year I decided to go cheaper and found my sheets smelling rancid and after throwing them out decided I'd never do that again.

Katie Dickinson

I started out trying the jojoba on an older leather day planner that I have. It is in very good condition, so I didn't think I would see much of a difference. Boy, was I wrong! I didn't realize how dull it was until I used the jojoba on it.

Dee

Fabulous, fabulous stuff!

I've been a masseuse for eleven years and your jojoba extract is the best stuff I've ever used! It's economical, clean, and every one of my clients like it.

I just wanted to email to say that I'm so in love with Jojoba.

I love how it absorbs into the skin and leaves it silky smooth, what a fantastic carrier it is for essential oils, that it doesn't go rancid, so my sheets remain sweet-smelling and that the (jojoba) is so stable with an incredible shelf-life. What's not to love?

Annie/Arianna Mitchell, LMP

I don't know what I did before I started using your product.
It is by far the finest skin care product I have ever used.

After 35 radiation treatments I recommended your product to my friend for his burns. Like magic it is soothing and healing the area. Wonderful jojoba. Thank you.
